Revlon Colorstay Concealer

I decided to try this concealer because I was already using Revlon Colorstay foundation and I really loved it. I have combo skin (sometimes dry ALL over and sometimes oily ALL over) and sources I talked to told me that this concealer has having medium to heavy coverage and that definitely intrested me. Well, I got it home and I tried it. Then I tried it again. Then I tried layering it. It gave what I felt was very light coverage!! I was very unhappy with this product and promptly returned it.

RECAP: Don’t bother trying this one!

Revlon Colorstay Concealer

I decided to try this concealer because I was already using the foundation which I really loved. The foundation has medium to heavy coverage so I was excited to try this concealer thinking the coverage would really be outstanding. I have somewhat oily skin, which also can be dry. I wouldn’t say it was combination because it isnt oily in spots and dry in spots. It is either all oily or all dry. I know………weird. I do get zits so I needed a concealer that could handle that. Well, I got it home and I tried my brand new Revlon Colorstay Concealer. Then I tried it again. Then I tried layering it. It gave extremely light coverage!! It was really a wet concealer, really liquid. And when you try to blend it with your finger or a sponge, you end up smearing all the concealer to the point where it looks like you have none on at all. What is the point of that!! I was very unhappy with this product and promptly returned it. Therefore, I do not recommend this product-at all.

Almay Line Smoothing Undereye Concealer

Filed under: Concealer — suz at 11:25 pm on Friday, June 30, 2006

Has anyone noticed that as soon as you really like some product, they discontinue it? Why does that ALWAYS happen? Does anyone else have this problem? What are some items that have been discontinued on you? The most recent product to be discontinued on me is Almay’s Amazing Lasting Concealer. This stuff rocked! It would last 24 hours if you didn’t wash it off. Plus it is waterproof so you could go swimming and not worry about your concealer coming off and uncovering a huge zit. To me, that’s definitely reassuring.

Then I got word they were discontinuing it!! Aaaahhh! What was I going to do?? I had been using Almay’s Amazing Lasting concealer for years! There were times when I would stray and try out another product, but NEVER could I find a better concealer. NEVER. Honestly, it scared me to think that I could no longer use my concealer. My concealer was like a security blanket, something I could use to cover up what I didn’t want to show the world.

So I got a stick concealer from Almay. I had always thought that sticks were supposed to cover better than liquids. But NO……This stuff was terrible. Discouraged, I went back to Walmart and got Almay’s new Line Smoothing Under Eye Concealer. The tube looked very similar to the Amazing Lasting concealer, and I hoped that the results of this concealer would be very similar as well. I got the shade light/medium. I took it home, tried it, and guess what?? Almay’s new Line Smoothing Under Eye Concealer is definitely as good a concealer as Amazing Lasting!! Welll maybe not quite as good but it is a pretty good alternative to Amazing Lasting. And Amazing Lasting wasn’t for people who had fine lines and this concealer does help with that I guess!!!

And PLEASE don’t think that just because it says that it is for undereyes that it is ONLY for undereyes. The circles under your eyes are probably the darkest thing on your face and if this concealer can handle that with flying colors, it can handle anything! I use it all over my face and it works superbly!

I compared the new tube to my old tube of Amazing Lasting at home, and this tube actually contained a higher percentage of titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is in many of the products that people use everyday-but especially in sunblock. This is because it can be opaque and provide a good shield from the sun. Think: that white stuff people put on their noses when they are at the beach. Therefore, the more titanium dioxide, the more opaque as a concealer. And the more opaque as a concealer, the better it covers up what you don’t like on your face (i.e. under eye circles, zits, dark marks, etc). UPDATE: As fall approaches, I am getting paler (I am normally very fair but in the summer I guess I am a tiny bit tanner in the summer when I use self tanner, etc. I needed a lighter concealer and unfortunately this concealer’s lightest color is light which is too dark. Great to use if you aren’t really fair like me!)

So, in conclusion, you really, really HAVE to try this concealer!! It is the best!
