So I haven’t written in awhile…..I’ve been super busy. I’ve seriously been thinking about dropping out of college and going to esthetician school. Isn’t that crazy?! It seriously is the one thing that I am truly passionate about. Beauty, fashion, skincare, cosmetics…….But I had a moment of clarity today. I mean I already have completed 75 hours in college which means I am more than halfway there, I just need to stick it out. My mom made a good point when she said, “if college was easy, everyone would do it.” Which is sorta true. I just gotta keep on chugging. Currently my major is marketing. While it isn’t my passion like cosmetics, I know a college degree is something that I will be happy to have later down the road. I just feel like I have been in school so long…..like I’m just going in circles and not making any progress towards my goal: graduation. I REALLY wish that a college near me offered fashion merchandising or design near me. I would LOVE that soooooo much. My sister has a friend who got her degree in some kind of fashion thing and now she is the buyer for a department in dillard’s. How cool is that?! I think being a buyer would be awesome. Marketing is kinda close to that, right? Update: 2 years later and guess what?!  I did it!  I got my degree.  I’m glad I stuck with it!  But I still want to be an esthetician….see other post!

Don’t drop out of college. Over the long run, you’ll earn far more money with a B.A. than without it.

Most schools have programs in design. A bachelor’s degree in design plus a few targeted voc-ed courses from the local community college should help you get the kind of job you want. Or…finish the degree in marketing, which should go a long way toward helping you get a fashion buyer’s job at a department store, and pick up a few extra relevant courses at a community college.

Your blog, BTW, also will help you get the kind of job you covet: it shows a) you’re literate (HUGE!); b) you’re knowledgeable about the subject you love; and c) you’re very enthusiastic about it. Don’t forget to include a link to this site on your resume.

Your comment made me smile. Thanks for all the great tips, especially the one about putting my website on my resume.  I would never have thought to do that!  Since writing that post I have decided to keep going to college and get my BA because you\\\’re right, I will make a lot more money in the long run and a college education will benefit me in pretty much all aspects of my life. Plus, I\\\’m a senior and I don\\\’t want to be one of those people that drop out with only 9 hours left and then regret it for the rest of my life. Even though, in my case, its more like 24 hours left…
